Begin by cutting the length of gutter to length with a hacksaw and aviation snips or a power miter saw equipped with a carbide-tipped blade. If the gutter runs around a corner, cut it at the applicable angle–typically 45 degrees. Then, place a chalk line at each of the two rafter tails where you will attach the fascia brackets (gutter hangers). Next, drill 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) pilot holes through the fascia board and into the rafter tails, as shown.
